The Harvard Education Review is planning to publish a special issue on Diversce Experiences of Immigrant Children and Youth in Education in order to reframe the dialogue on immigration issues in the United States.  As a part of the project, they are looking for essays, stories and visual art from children and youth who have been directly shaped by immigration experience.  Click above for submission information.
ECCLA celebrated the 2010 Teachers Award Reception on May 20th at the Natural History Museum.

Over 250 teachers, administrators and guests were in attendance to honor nominated teachers who work in the south Los Angeles area. 37 teachers were presented with a gift bag, certificate and specially engraved book mark. In celebration of its 20th anniversary, Ryman Arts, which fosters the education of gifted teen artists, is partnering with museums and other groups to launch the The Big Draw LA. This will be the first Big Draw on the West Coast. Visit www.thebigdrawla.org for details on how to enter.
The Grammy Museum will host "Walking with Dinosaurs," at the Staples Center from September 9-12th. Science and history teachers would find this event interesting as it features some amazing to-scale dinosaurs literally walking around on stage!“ For more information click the link.

The California Science Center offers workshops to parents, teachers, and afterschool providers. Dr. Kenneth Wesson, Neuroscientist and Expert on the Brain will be the keynote speaker at the October 9th workshop. Click link above.                  
The Los Angeles County Museum of Art offers programs for teachers and schools. School Tours, Arts for Nexgen and High School Internship programs are aimed toward the youth and young adults.
